For some castings with specific shapes, if the production quantity is small, the scraper can be made of a piece of wood board corresponding to the section shape of the castings without appearance, during modeling, the scraper moves back and forth along a certain trajectory or rotates around a fixed central shaft to scrape out the required cavity. This kind of modeling and core-making method operated by scraper without appearance is called scraper modeling. Scraper is easy to manufacture and uses few materials. It is a widely used modeling method. The common ones are rotating scraper modeling and guide scraper modeling.

In actual production, whether rotating scraper modeling or guiding scraper modeling is adopted should be determined according to the shape and size of the casting. Short and thick cylinders are shaped by rotating scraper, while longer cylinders or other special-shaped bodies with guiding surfaces are shaped better by guiding scraper. As for the use of scraper modeling or real mold modeling, it should be decided after comprehensive consideration of the production quantity, economy, quality and technical requirements of castings.
