Principle Application: 1. Light-activated illumination: When light strikes the photoresistor, the resistance of the photoresistor decreases, causing an increase in the circuit's current. When the voltage exceeds 0.7 volts, the NPN transistor 8050 conducts, illuminating the LED, and when there is no light on the photoresistor, the resistance increases, causing the current to decrease. When the voltage drops below 0.7 volts, the transistor cuts off, and the LED goes out.
2. Auto-Illumination without Light: Replace the transistor in Step 1 with a PNP transistor 8550. When light is shone on the photoresistor, the resistance of the photoresistor decreases, causing an increase in current in the circuit. When the voltage exceeds 0.7V, the transistor turns off, and the LED goes out. When no light shines on the photoresistor, the resistance of the photoresistor increases, causing a decrease in current in the circuit. When the voltage is below 0.7V, the transistor turns on, and the LED lights up. The potentiometer's role is to divide the voltage. By adjusting the potentiometer, the voltage can be changed, allowing the LED to light up at different light intensity levels.

Experimental Cognition: When light is shone on a photoresistor, the resistance of the photoresistor decreases, and the current in the circuit increases.

Knowledge Expansion: Photoresistors: Made of semiconductor materials, their resistance changes with the environment's light intensity. When the light intensity increases, the resistance decreases, and when the light intensity decreases, the resistance increases. They are commonly used in automatic control of light detection.
