Hot-sensitive paper is also known as hot-sensitive fax paper, hot-sensitive recording paper, and hot-sensitive copying paper. In Taiwan, it is called heat-sensitive duplicating paper. Hot-sensitive paper is a processed paper, and its manufacturing principle is to coat a layer of "hot-sensitive coating" (hot-sensitive color layer) on high-quality raw paper. Although there are more than a dozen kinds of chemical drugs used in this color layer, at least the following compounds are included: achromatic dyes, which are very wide in variety and are most commonly used fluorescent compounds; color developers account for less than 20%, with bisphenols and salicylic acid as the most common; sensitizing agents account for less than 10%, including benzene sulfonamide-like compounds; fillers account for less than 50%, with calcium carbonate (particles) as the most common; adhesives account for less than 10%, such as polyvinyl acetate; stabilizers, such as 1,1'-biphenyl-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid; lubricants, etc. Therefore, the process is difficult, and the technical requirements are high.
