Therefore, they are called rubber comb. They can last for 10 years without breaking, do not damage hair, and are both affordable and practical. Rubber combs are currently very popular and are suitable for street vending, selling in supermarkets, and doing trade shows. They are also suitable as gifts!

The meaning of giving a comb

Tie the hair together in unity, with a comb as a gift.

In ancient China, giving a comb symbolized a secret engagement.

I want to grow old with you, be entangled with each other for a lifetime, and mean to be married.

The custom of having family members comb the hair of a woman before her marriage in ancient times.
The old saying has it that 'one comb through to the end, two combs for white hair to meet at the brows, three combs for a full house of descendants'.

It includes the best wishes from family members and the transmission of love.
Therefore, many places have developed the habit of sending combs on the Qixi Festival.

The origin of the comb

Combs, also known as hairbrushes, were traditionally called 'zhib' in ancient times and are tools used to arrange hair. They are typically flat in shape.
Combs are often equipped with many teeth. Some combs have handles, while others do not. In the past, combs were typically made of wood, such as jujube wood, mei wood, or yellow willow wood combs. There were also bone combs, tooth combs, horn combs (antler combs), and metal combs. Nowadays, most combs are made of plastic. A comb with close-set teeth is called a comb. In addition to grooming hair, some combs can also be used as hair ornaments. In ancient China and traditional Japanese hairstyles for women, combs are often used as decorations.

Combs are tools for combing hair. From the structure of the Chinese character "梳", we can speculate that combs were originally made of wood based on the method of ancient Chinese character creation.

The origin of the comb:

It is said that the second wife of Huang Di, the Yellow Emperor, was named Fang Lei Shi, and she was a very intelligent woman. After the Yellow Emperor's first wife, Leizu, invented sericulture, Fang Lei Shi was the first to invent bone needles. She threaded the silk thread through the bone needle's tail and stitched clothes with a quick and deft movement, which won the admiration of the women in the Yellow Emperor's palace.

However, there are some things that bother Fang Leishi—the more than 20 women in the Huangdi Palace under her charge, who often appear disheveled. On major festivals, she would summon all these women and use her own hands to comb their hair until it is smooth. Sometimes, her five fingers would be bruised from the combing. Therefore, she often feels depressed about these matters.

One year, the Yellow River experienced a major flood. Di Hu, who had helped the Yellow Emperor invent boats, recovered nineteen large striped fish, thicker than arms. Therefore, Di Hu asked the third wife of the Yellow Emperor, Tongyu, to cook the fish for him. However, Tongyu was ill and could not get out of bed, so Di Hu had to seek Fang Lei. Fang Lei used the same method Tongyu used to cook fish, heating the stone slab, then placing the 'striped fish' on it, turning them over and over. It didn't take long for the 'striped fish' to be cooked. The cooked striped fish was so delicious that Di Hu ate four in one breath. The fish bones piled up on the ground. Fang Lei picked up a fish bone, broke it, looked at it, and felt it was very beautiful. She used the fish bones to comb her disheveled hair on her shoulders. At first, it was an unintentional combing, but after a while, the disheveled hair was combed neatly. She had an idea, and secretly stored the fish bones in a bag.

The next day, Fang Leishi called the 20 women together and handed out the broken fish bones to them one by one. Then he taught them how to comb their hair. The women laughed and started to comb their hair. However, due to their lack of skills, some fish bones pierced their scalp, causing some women to squeal in pain. Some women applied too much force, breaking the fish bones. As a result, the women began to discuss, saying it would be better to use two fingers to comb their hair, which was safer and could also scratch.

This matter failed, but it did not defeat the confidence of Fang Leishi. The inspiration from the fishbone led her to constantly ponder. One day, she met the woodworker Shui'er of the Yellow Emperor, and Fang Leishi gave the fishbone to Shui'er, asking him to make a "fishbone" out of wood. Shui'er looked at the fishbone and decided to try his hand at it.

After a few days, the carpenter Shu'er made a comb shaped like fish bones from a piece of wood. Fang Leishi laughed when she saw it and told Shu'er that it was thicker than a finger and couldn't be used to comb hair. So Shu'er took it back and discussed it with some of his carpentry brothers. After much research, they finally made a comb out of bamboo. Fang Leishi was very happy when she saw it. Since then, the era of Chinese women using combs began.
