    Maxwell's demountable pendulum is an instrument used to demonstrate the mutual conversion process of gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy, where the total mechanical energy remains constant.
When the axis of the pendulum is rotated to make the pendulum rise to the top, it accumulates a certain amount of potential energy. When the pendulum is released to begin rotating and descending, its potential energy gradually decreases, while its kinetic energy (both translational and rotational) gradually increases. When the string is completely released, the pendulum no longer descends, and the rotational angular velocity and the translational velocity reach their maximum values, resulting in the maximum kinetic energy. Since the pendulum continues to rotate, it begins to wind the string again to make the pendulum rise. In the process of the pendulum's ascent, its kinetic energy gradually decreases, while its potential energy gradually increases. When it rises to a height roughly equal to the original one, the kinetic energy is zero, while the potential energy is at its maximum. If there are no resistances, the height to which the pendulum rises each time is the same, indicating that the total amount of mechanical energy remains constant during the process of mutual conversion between potential energy and kinetic energy.

Experimental Objective: 1. During the pendulum motion, the lower the height, the greater the speed, and the corresponding gravitational potential energy is smaller, while the kinetic energy is greater. Conversely, the higher the height, the smaller the speed, and the corresponding gravitational potential energy is larger.
The greater the potential energy, the less the kinetic energy.
2. When Maxwell's demon's pendulum descends, the lower the height, the less the gravitational potential energy, the greater the rotation speed, and the greater the rotational kinetic energy. When the pendulum rises, the higher the height, the greater the gravitational potential energy.
The larger the size, the smaller the rotation speed, and the smaller the rotational kinetic energy.
